![]() ![]() We’re not talking about someone just sneaking into a bathroom for sixty seconds to do something like this, either - allegedly. This is, perhaps, the dumbest idea that MLB has come up with since they moved the Expos out of Montreal. Who the fuck is doctoring 117 baseballs, 162 times a year without being noticed? Have you ever heard of someone being caught doctoring baseballs before a baseball game? I haven’t. Let’s say the average lifespan of a baseball in an MLB game is 2.5 pitches that’s roughly 117 baseballs used in one nine-inning game. The best bug spray, insect repellent, mosquito spray + sunscreen UVA/UVB protection. So, in one game, that’s 292 pitches between the two teams. Buy Quik Gel Broad Spectrum SPF Sunscreen & Mosquito Coast. The most recent data that I could find shows that a team throws an average of 146 pitches per game. We’ve seen Michael Pineda slather his entire body in pine tar so that he could get a better grip on the ball. There is really only so much that you can do to alter a baseball to give the pitcher a competitive advantage, and the most popular methods wouldn’t be implemented directly to the ball before the game, anyway. ![]() Major League Baseball pumped up security for its game balls this season in the wake of the Tom Brady flap. Starting this year, an MLB representative watches the baseballs while a clubhouse assistant carries them from the umpires’ room to the field. And if the supply runs low during the game, an MLB security person is now sent to retrieve more from the umps’ room. In the past, a ball boy or ball girl did those jobs alone. In light of the DeflateGate scandal surrounding the New England Patriots, Major League Baseball has ramped up their security in regards to who handles all of the official game balls before they are put into play. ![]()
